“Physical parameters are being measured,” says a non-computer voice. “There’s no need to be nervous, Doctor Leavitt.” Leavitt does not look calm.
“THERMOGRAPH SCAN SUBJECT CODED: HALLMARK THERMOGRAM HM-I,” says a computer display.
“Please raise your left arm,” says a computer voice. Hall, face-up and nude on an exam table, raises his left arm. On the computer display, a solarized image of his arm is shown.
“Please sit up, facing the scan screen, and watch carefully,” says the voice. Hall does as instructed. Synthesized tones fill the air, and flashing lights appear on the screen. Unnoticed by Hall, a robot arm swings down to his left shoulder and fires a gas injection at his arm.
“You have received pneumatic injections of booster immunizations,” says the voice, as the music fades away. “You may get dressed. Thank you. This recording is now ended.”
Dressed in their yellow jumpsuits, the team reassembles in the Level 2 hallway. An aide hands Leavitt her glasses.
