Hall starts checking off blood tests on the screen. When finished, the computer screen goes blank for a moment, then the following appears:
TESTS ORDERED WILL REQUIRE FOR EACH SUBJECT
4 CC CLOTTED BLOOD
2 CC OXALATED BLOOD
3 CC CITRATED BLOOD
15 CC URINE
Hall looks at the screen. “You draw the bloods, I’ll do the physicals.”
Hall walks to the tunnel entrance of the right-hand suit and pauses. Anson, approaching the other tunnel entrance, smiles at him.
“Use the bar,” says Anson. “The tunnel seals off automatically behind you. The only way you might possibly break your suit is with a scalpel – – and a surgeon isn’t likely to do that. ” Anson waves, grabs the overhead bar, and swings feet-first into the tunnel.
Hall presses the door opener button, then follows Anson’s motions in swinging into the tunnel.
Anson’s head pops up in the glass helmet. Hall appears inside his own helmet, and flexes his rubber gloves as the suit door seals behind him.
